Vyond: Effective Communication

Tools:  Vyond

Time:  2 weeks

Client:  Idol Academy Badge Project

Deliverables:

Challenge:

Personal coach or marketing specialist is trying to help their client learn how to communicate effectively.  The person with the mindset that needs to change is actually the communication mentor who must lean into stewardship to guide the client to gain the desired skill.

Solution:

With a well designed script created by IDOL content creators, I agreed that a Vyond video would efficiently portray the needed training by depicting a journey between the communication mentor and her client as she realizes her role in assisting the client resulting in visually clear improvement in the client's skills.  I chose a combination of abstract and office-based backgrounds to relay the inner-thought process of the mentor and how that plays out as she works with the client.  This structure provides variety for learner interest and real-life results for applicability.

Results:

The success of this video could be measured with a survey of The learner in the role of communication mentor leaves the video clip with better clarity on their role including broad outlooks they should adopt to have a more competent capacity to guide the client towards more effective communication.

Vyond: Research Department Intro

Tools:  Vyond, Canva, SmartMockups

Time:  2 weeks

Client:  Osteopathic Medical School

Deliverables:

Challenge:

Individuals, both inside and outside of this particular medical school, seem not to understand the role the department of research serves for students and faculty members.  All of the necessary information is contained within the "Research" tab and subsequent sub-tabs of the school website. However, the website is text-heavy and cumbersome to navigate.  Rather than look for the needed information, persons proceed with research endeavors with insufficient knowledge of the process, or they call the department frequently to answer their questions.  This tendency leads to miscommunications, improper following of procedures, and added time required by departments to respond to individual issues, contributing to lost productivity.

Solution:

As a beginning step of completely overhauling the research portion of the website, I chose to create a short and engaging animated video that would serve as an introduction for current and prospective faculty, staff, and students to the various ways the department serves the facility.  It introduces the individuals responsible for various parts of grants/research approvals and provides an overview of services overseen by the department.  The school logo and team members' names have been changed for anonymity and propriety.

Results:

The individuals who visit the website are now greeted with a fun video that ultimately directs them to whom to contact for further details and provides guidance to the Microsoft Teams site that will break down each process into more detail.  Ultimately, success for this explainer video would be determined by student and faculty engagement with the video and a survey reflecting their perspective on the video's usefulness and whether they feel their clarity of the research department's functions has increased.  Ideally, faculty and students will feel more welcomed to the website and confident about their search queries.
